Today I embraced my bride-to-be status and actually went to a wedding fayre. Despite the fact that I've been engaged for over a year already, I haven't really bothered with the whole wedding fayre thing. I've managed to get a lot of things booked through word-of-mouth and personal recommendation, so haven't seen the point.
However, I have decided that I should enjoy this (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime experience of planning my wedding and do the whole thing. So, H2B, my twin and I headed to the Barns Hotel in Bedford and braved bridezillas and crazy magicians. Actually, the magician was quite good (if a little odd), and his tricks were amusing. The star of the show was the giant choc fountain though - Belgian chocolate with mini swiss roll and doughnuts.
I am now seriously considering a chocolate fountain to go into the main reception of my wedding venue - seriously scrummy! We also found a ring company and have booked an appointment with them for the end of next month. H2B even spent this afternoon looking at their catalogue, which is pretty impressive considering he wasn't even going to get a ring originally.
I really liked some black card invitations, although I really want bespoke ones that go with our unofficial sci-fi theme(!). Have to think about it...
Decided on our readings yesterday, which was a rather painless experience. Thought it would take ages, but we just grabbed some poetry books and went to the pub for an hour, and voila. Sorted. We are going for 'Being Boring' by Wendy Cope, 'Do We Need to Leave Yet, Or Yes We Do' by Ogden Nash, and possibly something from the Odessy.
So, plans going along reasonably ok.
Ho hum, not much else going on. I went to see 'Julie&Julia' earlier today, which was fun although quite long. Meryl Streep was excellent, as always and the food looked yummy! I really should cook more, but I just can't be arsed. I love baking brownies, but everything else bores me.
Need to go shower now and prepare for work. Night peeps. x
