Well, I've only gone and done it. After five years of plodding along in a job I don't like, I finally got fed up of endless promises of promotion and training that were never fulfiled and have handed in my notice! Of course, I don't actually have a job to go to, and now is not the easiest climate in which to find something.
What have I done? I'm not sure if this is the best or worst thing I have done in a long time. It is giving me the chance to rethink what I want to do with my life, and a deadline to work to, which is important. I have wanted to work in the media for years (so, me about about 2 billion other people), but I am not going to take no for an answer! I've done what others wanted me to all my life. I took the 'safe' History degree instead of something media-based, 'in case you don't make it'. I have ended up falling into jobs to pay the bills and, despite some interesting life experiences, they haven't helped my career at all.
So, taking the bull by the horns and going for it! I am no doubt going to be horribly poor, which considering I have a wedding to pay for in 6 months is probably massively stupid, but I had to do something.
